Vranashotha represents the inflammatory stage that precedes wound formation and is characterized by localized swelling, pain, and progressive tissue involvement. Classical Ayurvedic literature, particularly the Sushruta Samhita, describes a structured therapeutic protocol known as Saptopakrama for the management of inflammatory swellings and wounds. This article presents a scientific analysis of the pathogenesis, classification, and treatment principles of Vranashotha and correlates Ayurvedic concepts with contemporary biomedical understanding of inflammation and wound healing. The seven therapeutic procedures of Saptopakrama—Vimlapana, Avasechana, Upanaha, Patana, Shodhana, Ropana, and Vaikritapaham—demonstrate parallels with modern principles such as edema reduction, bloodletting, incision and drainage, wound cleansing, and tissue regeneration. Integrating traditional Ayurvedic surgical principles with modern biomedical insights may provide a holistic and effective strategy for the management of inflammatory swellings and wound care
