Title

DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF AUTOMATIC SORTING SYSTEM USING IMAGE PROCESSING: A REVIEW

Abstract

In recent years, industries have increasingly moved toward automation in order to improve productivity, reduce human effort, and maintain consistent product quality. One of the most effective solutions developed for this purpose is the automatic sorting system based on image processing technology. Such systems use cameras and computer vision algorithms to identify and classify objects based on characteristics such as size, colour, and shape, and then automatically separate them using mechanical actuators. This paper reviews the design considerations, working principles, and fabrication methods involved in developing an automatic sorting system. Special attention is given to the selection of structural materials, conveyor mechanisms, imaging devices, and control units to ensure system stability and efficient performance. The study also discusses different image-processing approaches and compares traditional manual sorting with modern automated solutions. Byanalyzing system performance, applications, and implementation challenges, this review highlights how vision-based sorting systems can significantly enhance industrial efficiency while minimizing operational errors. The findings demonstrate that such systems play an important role in the development of smart manufacturing and automated production environments.
