Title

“Integrating Indigenous Knowledge System In Teacher Education: Cultural Perspective In Indian Context”

Abstract

The integration of Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS) in teacher education has gained increasing attention in India as educators in India strive to establish context-based and culturally relevant learning environment, the incorporation of Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS) into teacher education has drawn more attention. The traditional wisdom, customs, values and cultural experiences that local communities have created and maintained over many generations are represented by indigenous knowledge. Strengthening cultural identity, encouraging inclusive education and improving the applicability of teaching methods can all be greatly aided in the Indian context by incorporating such knowledge into teacher education programs. This paper explores the importance of incorporating Indigenous Knowledge Systems into teacher education from a cultural perspective. It emphasizes how the teaching-learning process can be enhanced by traditional knowledge pertaining to local history, environment, language, art, health, practices and community values.
