Title

Career Passport:Skill-Gap Detection and Personalized Course Recommendation for Job Readiness

Abstract

The increased demand for industry-ready graduates underscores the necessity of transparent, skill-based career support systems in higher education. The proposed research, Career Passport, is an integrated service connecting students, employers, graduates, and universities through verified career profiles, rule-based job matching, and customized upskilling recommendations. The system employs an efficient lightweight framework for skill-gap detection and course suggestion, matching students against target job requirements using set-based operations and Jaccard similarity. Detected skill gaps are traced to corresponding learning materials, enabling students to improve their employment suitability systematically. The proposed method is explainable, resource-efficient, and easy to deploy in institutional career portals, unlike data-intensive machine learning models. The platform also combines alumni engagement and administrative authentication to offer authenticity, mentoring, and analytics-based decision making. Experimental assessment shows this rule-based model successfully reveals key skill gaps, enhances readiness scores, and assists sustained learning for better employability results.
