Title

Secure healthcare data management with tokenization and hashing techniques

Abstract

The rapid digitalization of healthcare systems has led to increased adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), raising serious concerns regarding data privacy, security, and integrity. Healthcare data contains highly sensitive patient information that is vulnerable to unauthorized access, data breaches, and tampering. This project proposes a secure healthcare data management system using tokenization and cryptographic hashing techniques to protect sensitive EHR data. Tokenization is used to replace critical patient identifiers such as patient ID, diagnosis, and insurance details with non-sensitive tokens, while cryptographic hashing ensures data integrity and tamper detection. The system evaluates security based on parameters such as confidentiality, integrity, access control efficiency, tokenization accuracy, hashing overhead, data retrieval time, and resistance to data breaches. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) is implemented to restrict data access based on user roles, and audit logging is used to monitor all system activities. The proposed solution enhances privacy preservation, improves data security, and ensures regulatory compliance while maintaining data usability for healthcare operations. the system incorporates advanced encryption mechanisms to secure data during transmission and storage. It ensures scalability to handle large volumes of healthcare data without compromising performance. The integration of secure APIs enables seamless interoperability between different healthcare systems. Real-time monitoring and alert mechanisms are implemented to detect and respond to suspicious activities promptly. The framework is designed to be cost-effective and adaptable for deployment in both small clinics and large hospitals. Extensive testing demonstrates the system’s robustness against common cyber threats such as SQL injection and unauthorized access attempts. Overall, the proposed model provides a reliable, efficient, and future-ready solution for secure healthcare data management.
