The growing use of wireless technology in healthcare has increased the need for reliable systems for remote patient monitoring. In this work, a frequency-reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna is designed for wireless ECG monitoring applications. The antenna consists of a square patch with a circular slot and a vertical parasitic strip, where reconfigurability is achieved using a switching mechanism. In the OFF state, the antenna operates at 7.1 GHz, 7.7 GHz, and 8.5 GHz, providing multi-band performance. In the ON state, the antenna mainly operates at 7.1 GHz and 7.7 GHz. The design is simulated using CST Studio Suite on an FR-4 substrate with compact dimensions of 70.72 × 70.72 mm and a thickness of 1.2 mm. The antenna is designed to be compact and flexible, making it suitable for wearable applications. The proposed design supports efficient wireless ECG monitoring and can be useful for modern healthcare systems.
