This study examines the transformative impact of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) on the structural evolution of digital banking in India from 2017 to 2026. Utilizing a descriptive and analytical research design based on secondary data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), the paper evaluates how UPI catalyzed financial inclusion from passive account creation to active daily digital usage. Grounded in the public JAM (Jan-Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile/RuPay) architecture and private fintech distribution, India successfully converted dormant accounts into active transaction hubs.
