Introduction: Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a serious complication of Diabetes Mellitus. Wagner Classification helps assess ulcer severity and guide management. Adequate training is essential for nurses to improve their knowledge and skill regarding DFU grading. Objective: To evaluate and compare the effectiveness of Hands-on Training and Video-Based Training on knowledge and skill regarding Wagner Classification for DFU among staff nurses. Methodology: A quantitative, two parallel-arm comparative research design was adopted. Fifty staff nurses were selected using simple random sampling and divided into Hands-on Training and Video-Based Training groups, with 25 nurses in each. Data were collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire and skill assessment checklist. Pre-test and post-test scores were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Both groups showed significant improvement in knowledge and skill after the intervention. The Hands-on Training group demonstrated higher post-test mean scores than the Video-Based Training group, indicating greater effectiveness. The findings revealed that Video-Based Training was more effective than Hands-on-Training in improving knowledge regarding Wagner Classification, with a mean difference of 10.60 ± 2.27 compared to 6.44 ± 2.78 (t = 11.66, p = 0.0001). Hands-on Training was more effective in improving skill, with a mean difference of 4.76 ± 2.14 compared to 2.56 ± 1.58 (t = 13.72, p = 0.0001). Both training methods were statistically significant at the 5% level, and the research hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. Conclusion: Both teaching methods improved nurses’ knowledge and skill regarding Wagner Classification. Hands-on Training was more effective and may be incorporated into routine in service nursing education. Recommendations: It is recommended that similar studies in multiple hospitals with larger samples. Assess long-term retention of knowledge and skills through longitudinal studies.
