The concept of women's space has emerged as one of the central concerns in feminist literary discourse, encompassing physical, psychological, intellectual, economic and socio-cultural dimensions of women's lives. Rather than merely referring to geographical or domestic locations, women's space signifies the freedom to think, create, speak and construct an independent identity beyond patriarchal constraints. English literature has consistently represented women's struggle to claim such spaces, portraying their journeys from oppression to self-realization through education, economic independence, emotional resilience and creative expression. This study critically examines the representation of women's space in selected literary works by Virginia Woolf, Charlotte Brontë, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker and Margaret Atwood. Drawing upon feminist literary criticism, Gynocriticism, Liberal Feminism and Intersectionality, the paper explores how these writers challenge patriarchal ideologies while redefining female identity and autonomy. Through textual analysis, the study demonstrates that women achieve intellectual, emotional and social empowerment when they are granted opportunities for self-expression, financial independence and personal freedom. Collectively, the texts reveals that women's empowerment is inseparable from the creation of autonomous spaces where individuality can flourish. The study argues that literature functions not only as a reflection of women's historical struggles but also as a transformative force advocating gender justice, equality and human dignity. Consequently, the notion of "women in her space" remains an essential paradigm for understanding women's empowerment within both literary studies and contemporary feminist discourse.
