Title

Rajyoga Meditation and Psychological Resilience Among Police Personnel: A Review of Existing Evidence and Implications for Indian Law Enforcement

Abstract

## Abstract Police personnel work in highly demanding environments and are regularly exposed to occupational stress, unpredictable situations, conflict and other challenging experiences. Such conditions can affect psychological well-being and may make psychological resilience an important factor in effective coping and adaptation. Meditation and mindfulness-based interventions have received increasing attention as possible approaches for supporting the mental health of police personnel. Previous research has reported beneficial effects of mindfulness-based interventions on stress, burnout, anxiety, sleep problems and other psychological outcomes among police officers. However, evidence regarding their direct effect on resilience remains mixed. Rajyoga Meditation is a contemplative practice that focuses on self-awareness, positive thinking, emotional stability and inner peace. Despite growing interest in meditation and resilience, limited research has specifically examined the relationship between Rajyoga Meditation and resilience among police personnel, particularly in the Indian context. This review examines the existing literature on meditation, mindfulness, psychological resilience and police personnel, with particular attention to the possible relevance of Rajyoga Meditation. The review identifies important gaps in the existing literature and highlights the need for empirical research among Indian police officers. The findings provide a conceptual basis for investigating the impact of Rajyoga Meditation on resilience among urban police officers of Davangere, Karnataka.
