Diaspora literature explores the experiences of people living away from their homeland, reflecting themes of alienation, identity, cultural conflict, loss and nostalgia. This paper examines the concept, types and major features of diaspora literature, with special reference to prominent Indian diaspora writers. It also traces the historical growth of the Indian diaspora and highlights its contribution to India's economy, culture, technology, diplomacy and global image. The paper further discusses challenges such as political differences, welfare concerns, return migration, geopolitical instability and barriers to investment. It concludes that the Indian diaspora remains a valuable asset to India's development and international relations.
