Abstract The use of technology in education has changed the way teaching and learning takes place and has set new challenges for teachers, requiring them to have not only pedagogical and content knowledge, but also knowledge of how to use technology effectively in the teaching-learning process. Techno-pedagogical competency is the ability of teachers to use and incorporate appropriate technological tools and resources with pedagogical strategies and content of the subject to enable meaningful, interesting and effective learning. The aim of the present study is to assess the techno-pedagogical competence of secondary school teachers and the ability of teachers to use technology in teaching. Descriptive research is used for the present study and the data was collected randomly from 80 secondary school teachers from Kohima district of Nagaland. For data collection, the Teacher’s Techno-Pedagogical Competence Scale developed and standardized by Rajasekar and Sathiyaraj (2013) was used. Appropriate statistical techniques such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, were employed to analyze the data. The study reveals the majority of the respondents possess an average level of techno-pedagogical competence. Results show that 25% have high techno-pedagogical competence, 66.25% indicate an average level of techno-pedagogical competence and 8.75% have a low level of techno-pedagogical competence. Findings revealed that there is no statistically significant difference in gender nor a significant difference between locality and management, indicating that male and female teachers, urban and rural, and government and private school teachers exhibit similar techno-pedagogical competencies in general.
