Title

The portrayal of woman’s gender Inequality in Anita Desai’s Circus Cat, Alley Cat

Abstract

“All are born equal and should be treated equal” says Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Freedom is meant for everybody but still there are differences among man and woman. The analysis of this paper is how woman are treated unequally and they are dominated by men. The society says that woman got freedom but still they are the victims of the society. Woman’s freedom are hidden in some way. In this short story Circus Cat, Alley Cat the character of Anna is dominated by her husband before her marriage she was free to do everything. But after her marriage she was dominated by her husband. Her husband did not allow her to do her wishes and never allowed her to be free. Anna instead should be treated respectfully by her husband as she is also a human. It doesn’t matter if she is a woman or a man. She should be treated equally.
