Post harvest deterioration of Vegetables like Bottle-gourd, pumpkin and ridge-gourd from three selected markets at Namakkal district namely Bommakuttamedu, Rasipuram and Puthan santhai. Healthy samples were collected and stored from the markets. Five Fungal pathogens Fusarium pallidoroseum, Rhizopus stolonifer, Penicillium digitatum, Aspergillus niger and Fusarium solani were detected. These fungus were prevalent in all the markets. Bottlegourd, Ridgegourd and pumpkin was most severe under humid environment and was enhanced by wounds on their surfaces. These micro-organisms are therefore the causal agents of Cucurbitaceae family. Harvested Vegetables are vulnerable attack by Fungi because of their high moisture content. Thus numerous diseases, which occur in transit and storage result mainly due to the activity of Fungi.
