The present study is aimed to document the flora of sacred groves in Paramakudi Taluk. The research work was carried out from April 2017 to March 2018. A total of 90 species dispersed in 80 genera belongs to 40 families were identified in the study area. The habitual diversity of the flora was 12(13.33%) climbers, 38(42.22%) herbs, 19(20.65%) shrubs and 21(23.33%) trees. The maximum number of plants (10) distributed in Euphorbiaceae and 18 families possessed single species. The medicinal floral diversity information was collected from the local people. The local people used various plant parts for curing diferent diseases among these leaf was mostly used for primary remedies. The study describes details of botanical name, local name, useful parts and therapeutic uses. The collected specimens were documented and the voucher specimens were deposited in PTMTM College, Kamuthi. The sacred groves act as treasure house of endemic and threatened species which is gradually disappear due to various environmental factors. Hence, it is a time to conserve the sacred groves in a priority basis.
