Eugenia singampattiana Beddome is one of the endemic and Critically Endangered tree species of southern Western Ghats in Peninsular India. The leaf paste of Eugenia singampattiana is given to treat rheumatic pain by Kanikkar tribe. The present study was undertaken to study the Pharmacognostic parameters for the rapid identification and authentication of the plant. The macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of Eugenia singampattiana leaf, stem and root were done using different chemicals and reagents. These observations would be of immense value in the botanical identification and standardization of the drug in crude form and would help distinguish the drug from its other species. Phytochemical standardization parameters such as total ash, water soluble and acid insoluble ash, alcohol soluble and water soluble extractives were determined.
