Title

INVITRO ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF CISSUS SETOSA ROXB

Abstract

An efficient invitro propagation method was optimized using nodal explants from Pogostemon cablin by organogenesis. Regeneration protocol standardized on MS medium supplemented with BAP (1.5 mg/l). The maximum number of callus was developed from the leaf and node explants in the presence of 2,4-D (1.0 mg/l) and BAP (0.5 mg/l). The maximum number of shoot regeneration (5.5) was observed in MS medium with BAP (2.0 mg/l), KIN (1.5 mg/l) and NAA (1.5 mg/l). The maximum frequency (85.3) and number of rootlets (7.5) were obtained in MS medium with IAA (1.5 mg/l). After one month of rooting, the plantlets were transferred to the polycups containing mixture of sterile garden soil and sand (3:1). The plants were acclimatized successfully with 90% in pots under green house condition. The plants were also successfully established in field condition with 85% of survival rate.
