Title

HOMOLOGY MODELING AND DOCKING OF PHYTOCHEMICAL COMPOUNDS TO IDENTIFY MOSQUITOCIDAL COMPOUNDS TARGETING THE MIDGUT PROTEIN OF ANOPHELES STEPHENSI

Abstract

Mosquitoes are the vectors of diseases like malaria, encephalitis, dengue, filaria, yellow fever etc. and thus possess a severe threat to public health. Mosquitoes improved resistant to different kinds of chemical insecticides because of continuous usage and pollution. Plant-based mosquito larvicides are safer than synthetic products and also eco-friendly to nontarget organisms. In the present study, the protein structure was modeled using Schrondinger Prime-suite as its corresponding structure not available in Protein Data Bank. Docking study of the modeled protein was done with natural compounds menthol (Mentha piperita), and anthraquinone (Cassia occidentalis) to find the preferred orientation and binding affinity of a drug with the target protein. The results showed that both menthol and anthraquinone were highly binding with midgut trypsin model of Anopheles stephensi but menthol was found to be interacting better than the anthraquinone compound and produced a good glide score.

Key Words
