Title

Caste and Gender hegemony on marginalised Dalits in Bama’s Karukku and Sivakami’s The Grip of Change

Abstract

The Subaltern Dalit women writer Bama and Sivakami’s novels depict of caste and gender discrimination. Caste discrimination is practised both in of Christianity and in Hinduism. The people are living too far from the life of equalitarian and unity in order to violently depend on religion and caste. This impact reflects on innocent children and women trapped in the cage of society of patriarchal, showing preference for sons, and caught up in caste and gender domination. In all religions and community, consider women as secondary, and women as toys in the hands of men as explicated to fulfil sexual desire. In the comparison to other communities, Dalit women are twice oppressed by the upper caste men and their own caste men. Though Dalits endured all the shame and humiliation for by which food and education to their children. In Bama’s Karukku and Sivakami’s The Grip of Change, many Dalits character have been the silent and suffering minority. Everywhere Dalits voice, self-worth, hard work, freedom are all denied and considers everyone of their as untouchable. Bama and Sivakami, both became revolutionary writers who portrayed Dalits’ pain, sufferings and torments in their works.
