Language is one of the most significant possessions of human beings. We tend to express our thoughts effectively with the help of language. Of all the languages in the world today, English deserves to be regarded as a world language. This topic is related to teaching English as a second language and to enable the learners to develop the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. And the related book is “Teaching English As a Second Language” which was written by C. Paul Verghese. This book gives the detailed description of teaching the four skills, teaching vocabulary, English for communication and use of Audio-visual aids. Teaching English as a second language in India is challenging task for English teachers. By using the techniques and methods of native speakers it will enhance the skill of second language English learners. Thus this paper provides the learners to use the skills and learn the language. And it makes the learners to make use of the skills. Thus the mother tongue influence will affect the learners in practicing communication, by acquiring the four skills one can be efficient in four skills as native speakers.
