Teachers often face the problem of students being bored, uncooperative and fidgety, while learning language because the time and trouble they have taken to prepare is not yielding the expected results. Research in Education and in language learning has presented different approaches that could help teachers. Researchers dealing with this area have identified many different styles and strategies that are used in different learners and have described them in books aiming at helping students learn language. It is found that the newspapers use rhetorical expressions to make headline sensational, eye-catching and attractive. They form a part of learning strategy in understanding rhetorical devices. For this paper news headlines from ‘The Hindu’, ‘The Times of India’, and ‘The Indian Express’ were collected and discussed briefly how that can be made used in learning some selected rhetoric expressions.
