Myth is an oral narrative later recorded in literature. It includes many varied myths from regional and cultural – traditions. Amy Tan focuses on Chinese mythology which tends to focus upon material in Chinese language. Many myths involve the creation and cosmology of the universe and its deities and inhabitants. The contemporary literature produced by women writers shows the myth, which is a part of women in literature but also stress how male-governed these myths have been. This paper focuses on Chinese – American writer Amy Tan who appropriates Chinese Myth in her novel The Kitchen God’s Wife. She used several myths and images through her personal experiences.
