Divakaruni’s sixth novel, Queen of Dreams (2004), utilizes the magic realist mode. Like Tilo of The Mistress of Spices, who uses spices to help customers solve their problems, she takes up the life of Indian immigrants in the USA as the subject matter of her novel Queen of Dreams. There she tries to vivify the image of women who have tried to assimilate the alien culture and have tried to accept the changed identity, overthrowing the Indian cultural heritage in which they took their first breath.
