OPTIMIZATION OF ABRASIVE WATER JET MACHINING ON MS2026 USING GARNET

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to optimize input parameters of AWJM, such as nozzle transverse speed (NTS), abrasive flow rate(AFR) and standoff distance(SOD) using abrasive garnet, on material MS 2026 and outputs are such as MRR and kerf angle. The Taguchi design of experiment ,the signal to noise ratio ,General linear method of ANOVA are used to analyze the effect of input parameters by adopting L 9 Taguchi orthogonal array .Three controllable factors of each three levels are applied for determining the optimal combinations of factors and levels .The results reveals that NTS is most significant factors for MRR for garnet followed by AFR and SOD,t.
