India is one of country in world which produces largest amount of energy rank as 3rd in world. Although many rural areas in India are facing problems regarding uses of energy. As fossil fuels like coal, petroleum, etc. are in limited amount and are likely to finish soon, so the need for alternative sources of energy is essential in rural area. As the demand of energy consumption increases with growing population, there is need to secure the energy supply for future. Renewable sources provides energy in three important areas, i.e. Electricity generation, Heating or cooling and Transportation. Rising prices of oil & gas with their probable potential shortages may raise uncertainties about the security of energy supply in future which may effect on national economy. Hence, there is a primary need to use renewable energy sources. Renewable development contributes to overall development of the nation. This paper describes in brief about the energy crises observed in rural areas of India and also authors have tried to propose solutions for state wise development in rural areas of India
