Image segmentation is the initial step in the processing of images for image analysis. In the computer vison ,Image segmentation is called the process of dividing the digital image into multiple segments called as pixels or super pixels.. The important aim of segmentation is to simplify or rationalize the representation of an image into segments which are more meaningful and easier to examine. Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA)are the techniques that are considered in this paper. In the DWT method ,the image is split into four sub-bands using high and low pass filters.The decomposed coefficients of DWT are applied with PCA to obtain fused image information. Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) procedures are extensively used in Medical fields to track the irregularities that occur in internal body fluctuations. The main goal is to assess the abnormalities in MRI’s regardless of its modalities.
