Title

ADSORPTION OF C.I. BASIC GREEN BY CORDIA MYXA: THERMODYNAMIC MODELING

Abstract

In this research the C.I. Basic Green (BG) was removed from aqueous solution using Cordia myxa (Bhokar leaf powder, BKLP) as a biosorbent. The biosorbent was characterized by SEM technique. The effect of various factors such as: pH, agitation time and temperature were tested. The adsorption data were applied to thermodynamic parameters. The thermodynamic study revealed that the BKLP had negative ΔG° values therefore the adsorption processes were spontaneous and feasible. The positive values of both ΔH° and ΔS° revealed that the adsorption processes were endothermic with the increased randomness at the solid-liquid interfaces. It was found that the BKLP is an efficient and cheap biosorbent in removal of dye.
