TransnationalFeminismisaresponsetoglobalandinternationalfeminisms thathavetendedtoviewtheworldfromaEurocentric,colonialistperspective.Under therubricoftransnationalfeminism,theoristslookatinterrelationshipsbetween andamongplayerssituatedindifferentcontextsacrosstheglobe.Globalfeminism triestofitthewholeworldintoonefeministmold,orstudiesdiscreteareasofthe globe;transnationalfeminismarticulatesissuesastheytakeplacethroughmultiple relatedcontexts,oftenwithdifferentmeaningsindifferentplaces.Transnational focusesonrelationshipsandmovementsofpeople,capital,ideas.Atransnational critiqueofglobalfeminismaskshowtolinkdiversefeminismswithoutrequiringeither equivalenceoramastertheory.GrewalandKaplancalforWesternfeministsto examineacademicworkandeverydaylifeintermsofunderstandingthatprivilegein aworldsystemmeanssomeoneelse’sexploitation/oppression.Thus,notalfeminists wilhavethesameagendas,orthesameapproachestoparticularproblems. TransnationalasdefinedbyGrewalandKaplanisusedtoproblematizeapurely locationalpoliticsofglobal-localorcenter-peripheryinfavorofthelinescutting acrossthem.Asfeministswhonotetheabsenceofgenderissuesinalofthese worldsystemtheories,wehavenochoicebuttochalengewhatweseeasinadequate andinaccuratebinarydivisions.
