Title

ELECTROKINETIC REMEDIATION OF OIL CONTAMINATED SOIL

Abstract

Due to rapid industrialization and urbanization, soils are increasingly getting polluted. Most of the industries are creating wastes which contain heavy metals. These days, industries are practicing open dumping, since it is an cost effective means of waste disposal. By-product which contains heavy metal, either in liquid or solid form, will contaminate soil and ground water, when it gets disposed off to the soil. A number of method are available for removal of soil contamination. Electrokinetic remediation method removes heavy metals effectively because an external energy is applied in the form of current. This method does not cause any secondary pollution.
