the rapid growth of internet has made us dependent on it for most of our activities. One such growing area is e – commerce. Today, there are hundreds of e – commerce sites and millions of products available on them. These sites allow its users to write a review about the product or the service provided. These reviews can act as a great source of information for the service provider for analyzing sales or decision making. It can also be useful for potential users to decide whether to buy a product or not. However, these reviews can be useful only if they are true. Rapid growth of e – commerce has also led to great competition among companies/brands. Hence, some parties try to add fake reviews on the competitor’s site in order to raise the popularity or to criticize a product/brand. This paper talks about the various techniques for detecting spam.
