Title

Narratives of the Holocaust and Its Traumatic Effects on Jews in Imre Kertesz Detective Story

Abstract

The research paper entitled “Catastrophic Narratives of the Holocaust and Its Traumatic Effects on Jews in Imre Kertesz Detective Story” deconstructs the impact of the Nazi Holocaust in which the Jewish people have confronted racial segregation, oppression, marginalization and other violent acts from the Nazi regime. The brutal and cruel treatment which Jews suffered have barbarized them. Dehumanization and torture to these people make them helpless and alienated in their own world. So the characters in the novel are dehumanized and demonized during the Holocaust. The paper analyzes the wrath and intolerable pain that these characters have suffered in their lives and the way it has ignited indelible scars in their lives. In addition to this, in the concentration camps, these people have been terrorized and demoralized. They have confronted prejudice, hatred and malice of the Nazi forces. They have been treated as aliens and have been subjugated through draconian laws and policies. Thus, the paper delineates barbarism that characters have confronted in their lives and its repercussion on their identity.
