Title

The Link Between Cellular Immortalization and Tumorigenesis

Abstract

Cells cannot divide countless times and enter the resting period or senescence before death. Sometimes cells fail to develop senescent state resulting in the production of a large group of cells. This uncontrolled division of cell leads starts with immortalisation, which then leads to tumorigenesis. Cell immortalisation and tumour formation are related to various enzyme activity and molecular passage in our body. This paper mainly reviews the various molecular events involved in apoptosis, tumour formation, de-differentiation, redifferentiation, and senescence. Furthermore, it also discusses the link between immortalisation and telomerase activity in a cell.
