Title

Proteins involved in kidney stone formation - a review

Abstract

As it is known to all that kidney stones are made up of organic materials and minerals in the form of complex mixture, macromolecules are considered as a key factor in the process of kidney stone formation. The impact of proteins or so called macromolecules is discussed in this review article to clarify the known facts as well as to study the till date proposed hypothesis about the formation of kidney stones especially calcium oxalate stones on the surface of renal epithelial cells and the drastic changes occurring between these cells. Apart from discussing some of the proteins which are directly or indirectly associated with the process of urolithiasis, a list is also provided in the content of this review about all the proteins.

Key Words
