Sexually transmitted diseases are the diseases which are majorly transmitted from sexual contact and intercourse. STD is caused by bacteria, protozoa, fungi, Viruses and diverse microbial forms. In this review STD caused by virus are studied. Among them Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Herpes Simplex Virus and Human Papilloma Virus are of immense importance. The STD’s are of global concern and their treatment is under research. There are various drugs which are developed in the course of time based on nucleic acids. Antiretroviral therapy for the aids and cryosurgery for warts including genetic system inhibition, all these drug give a relief response to the patient and prolong life but the complete treatment is impossible in viral STD bringing out further scope for future research.
