Title

DNA Vaccine For Cancer

Abstract

The recent advances or improvements in the fields of immune oncology has opened the way for the development of a new vaccine that can contribute to preventing the growth of cancer and tumor cells without destroying neighboring or healthy cells. Therapeutic DNA cancer vaccines are now considered a very safe alternative to conventional drugs that are very costly and have high toxicity levels. Many clinical trials have in the past led to the effective use of Plasmid DNA vaccine and also to the very precise in nature of the immune reaction to the destruction of cancerous cells expressing the particular antigen on the surface. Nonetheless, these vaccines have certain disadvantages, attributed to by some tumor cell-developed immune suppressive mechanism. To improve the efficacy of the vaccine, we need to increase the immune response to that vaccine by choosing the best antigen that will eventually be incorporated in the vector plasmid, and secondly, by combining the DNA vaccine with other complementary drugs that will increase the amount or activity of immune cells. In the present review, different approaches and methods for using DNA vaccine for a possible cancer cure are represented.
