Title

Insights into the conceptualization of different syllabus types: A Theoretical Study

Abstract

The philosophical theories that affected a particular age had an impact on the education systems of the times because the very nature and purpose of education has been considered to be the transmission of a cultural heritage which in turn is responsible for bringing about social change. Therefore, we have the theoretical ideologies of different philosophers being associated with the educational value systems. For instance, classical humanism is associated with Mathew Arnold and T.S. Eliot, progressivism with J.J. Rousseau and reconstructionism with John Dewey. In this paper the educational value systems that gave rise to the varying syllabuses over the years will be discussed at length.
