Title

Fluorescent in situ hybridization and its important modifications

Abstract

Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) is an important technique and widely used in the study of the plants. FISH is used to identify specific DNA sequences on chromosomes using fluorochrome labelled-probes. The various types of probes used in FISH based upon genetic material and location specificity. Various plant cytogenetics labs working across the globe have technically modified the FISH procedure as per their specific objectives. Broadly the modifications include Tyr-FISH, 3D FISH, GISH and FISH on super-stretched chromosomes.
