Abstract The research aimed to examine the effect of a range of natural mordants on color strength (K/S) value of annatto dyed polyester-viscose blended fabric. Six natural mordants amla, bahera, harad, tea leaves, pomegranate rind and walnut bark with all three methods of mordanting were used. The color strength value of the dyed samples was examined by Computer-Aided Macbeth 3100 reflectance Spectrophotometer and ColorLab plus software. It was found that among all the mordants the highest K/S value was exhibited by pomegranate rind (5.47) with post mordanting followed by harad (5.22) with simultaneous mordanting. However, it is noteworthy that the maximum color strength was exhibited by the Annatto dyed control sample (5.56) which suggests that the mordanting can only be beneficial to produce a range of attractive colors using a single source of dye for this fabric blend.
