Wireless body area network has emerged as a potential solution in a healthcare sector in terms of monitoring, prevention, diagnosing and curing the diseases timely or delaying its impact on the society and the world as a whole. A positive step in the direction of personalized healthcare with a dedicated medical history available on dedicated servers just like Facebook, twitter or other social platforms. However, there are challenges that needs to be addressed so as to make the vision into reality. Routing protocols provides a platform using which there can be an efficient data collection, segregation, and transmitted to the sink node which can then be sent to the online platform for access by the medical expert and provide a two-way communication emphasizing on diagnosis and prescription through online platform only reducing the cost drastically and providing an ease of access to healthcare service. In this paper, comparative analysis of cost function for an optimized routing protocol considering the energy efficiency, delay sensitive, robust network etc. will be discussed. In addition, various applications including the virus enabled pandemics be addressed and curbed in its initial stage.
