Bell’s palsy is very common problem with weakness of one side of face. It can be unilateral or bilateral in nature. The exact cause for this is unknown. But it may be caused when there is any inflammation or injury to facial nerve. It can be due to bacteria or viral infection. There are certain symptoms for this such as difficulty in chewing activities, smiling, raising the eyebrows etc. Lagophthalmos is a condition in which person is not able to close the eyes completely. It is generally the residual symptom after Bell’s palsy. But nocturnal Lagophthalmos is very common as in this patient is not able to close the eyes completely specially during the sleep which affects the health of the person to large extent.
