Title

Inclusive Development Of Disabled Women: A Twin Track Approach

Abstract

Disability in our society is treated as a stigma and a curse. Women with disabilities throughout the world often suffer from a triple discrimination that of having a disability, of living in poverty, and of being female. Women with disabilities, especially in developing countries, are one of the most marginalized groups in the world. Because of a lack of accessible schools, fear for women’s safety or simple neglect, many women with disabilities do not attend school or vocational training, leaving them unable to support themselves financially. Women with disabilities face mass discrimination because they cannot marry or work. In many countries woman with disability do not have the right to have a family or inherit property. At this stage disabled women need the empathy rather than sympathy. Every woman or girl with disability has the right to education, full inclusion and effective participation. The present paper will focus on a twin track approach in context of disabled women. It is the leading strategy in making development inclusive to people with disabilities. It is also essential in meeting the Millennium Development Goals and protecting disabled women’s rights. The suggestions will be given asking for specific action in policies to support women with disabilities, in addition to mainstream attention for disability in all policy areas”.
