Title

Reactive power control using STATCOM in distribution system

Abstract

This paper present an analysis of compensation algorithms applied to a STATCOM which uses three single-phase Half bridge converters sharing the same DC-bus voltage. The STATCOM is applied to three-phase four wire system, performing harmonic current suppression, reactive power compensation and power factor improvement. The synchronous reference frame based controller was used to generate the sinusoidal compensating current references. In addition, load unbalances compensation is also carried out.
