The authors note that India's M&A market is evolving, with a focus on digitalization, sustainability, cross-border mergers, strategic partnerships, and increased regulatory scrutiny. They also investigate the long-term profitability of bank mergers, finding that 77.7% of mergers lead to profits and 22.3% cause losses. They suggest that banks under losses should undergo mergers to survive in the market, as they can increase consumer base, reduce maintenance costs, and make the industry more profitable.
