The world market for food supplements has witnessed substantial growth, largely attributed to the various claims made by these products. These claims range from treating obesity to enhancing focus and alertness, reducing appetite, curbing the need for sleep, and diminishing impulsivity. However, alongside this growth, the presence of illegal compounds in food supplements poses a continuous threat to consumer safety. It is concerning that these compounds and their corresponding products have not undergone safety testing by competent authorities. This omission necessitates the urgent need for competent authorities to monitor the introduction of new products into the market and promptly inform users about potential health risks. This paper explores the importance of implementing robust regulatory measures to ensure the safety and efficacy of food supplements in the global market.
