This project develops a motion detection and alarm system using Python, integrating computer vision and machine learning techniques to enhance security applications. The system utilizes OpenCV to capture real-time video feed from a camera and detects motion through background subtraction and frame differencing methods. Advanced techniques like Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM) or deep learning are considered for increased accuracy. Upon detecting motion, the system triggers an alarm, which may involve sending notifications via email or SMS, sounding audible alarms, or interfacing with home automation systems , view live feeds, and manage alarms. Emphasizing real-time processing and minimal false positives, the system is robust and scalable for various environments. The project addresses implementation details, encountered challenges, and solutions, with potential future enhancements like integrating facial recognition and anomaly detection to offer a comprehensive security solution.
