Title

Analysis of Reforms of Juvenile Justice System

Abstract

This paper analyses the key reforms in the juvenile justice system. The future of our country is based on the young population and every year there are thousands of motor vehicle accidents involving juveniles, raising important legal questions about liability and accountability, as well as the weighing of justice and rehabilitation. This research examines the evolution and effectiveness of reforms in the juvenile justice system, emphasising the challenges in aligning legal frameworks with societal expectations. As per the statistics there is a huge leap in the rate of juvenile delinquency in the last decade in developing countries like India. The study delves into the historical progression of juvenile justice laws, focusing on aligning the legislature and the proper implementation of these laws. The basic question is that what is the reason behind rising cases of road accidents involving juveniles. There also arises a major question that whether these juvenile offenders be considered adults or minors. What are the common cause behind such delinquent acts? As the rate of juvenile accidents is increasing rapidly what are the required steps to be taken in order to reduce these accidents. This paper analyses recent reforms, including shift in age determination, the categorisation of heinous offences, and the role of restorative justice practices. Using comparative analysis, the research evaluates the successes and shortcomings of juvenile justice system across different jurisdictions, highlighting areas that need improvement. The research paper concludes by proposing a balanced approach that incorporates required measures, community involvement and proper policy making to ensure no juvenile offender is left unpunished. This study aims to contribute to the discourse on juvenile justice by offering insights for policymakers, legal practitioners, and researchers.
