The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006 was introduced to support MSMEs by enhancing their competitiveness and facilitating their growth through a structured consultative mechanism. To extend the financial inclusion and entrepreneurship, MUDRA Bank was established, aiming to generate employment, promote industrialization in rural areas, and ensure equitable wealth distribution. Previous research has largely focused on MUDRA’s qualitative role, with limited quantitative assessments at the state level. This study bridges that gap by analyzing secondary data on MUDRA’s monetary support across various schemes and borrower categories, particularly over the last two years. The findings indicate consistent growth in loan disbursements, with public and private sector banks leading, while small finance banks and microfinance institutions also play an increasing role. Special attention has been given to women entrepreneurs and new businesses, reinforcing equitable economic participation. To sustain this progress, expanding digital lending, improving rural access, and strengthening NBFCs through regulatory support and risk mitigation strategies will be key in ensuring continued financial inclusion and credit flow to small businesses.
