Waste management and circular economy models present economic opportunities while addressing environmental concerns. Rural entrepreneurship and skill development programs, supported by digital technologies, foster innovation and create employment. The review highlights the importance of context-appropriate solutions, capacity building, enabling policies, and sustainable business models. Interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers, policymakers, businesses, and rural communities is essential for translating scientific innovations into transformative change. By empowering rural populations with knowledge, skills, and opportunities, this integrated approach can build resilient and prosperous rural economies while advancing sustainable development goals.
