Title

GreenChain: Empowering Farmers Digitally

Abstract

In the era of digital advancement, small-scale farmers continue to face economic constraints due to limited market access and reliance on intermediaries, which diminish their profit margins. To address this challenge, we propose a mobile-first digital platform that directly connects farmers with consumers and local retailers, bypassing traditional middlemen and ensuring fair pricing. The platform incorporates a real-time bidding mechanism, enabling competitive offers from buyers, fostering transparency, and facilitating market-driven pricing. Designed for inclusivity, the solution supports multiple regional languages to enhance accessibility and adoption among diverse user groups. Farmers can effortlessly list their produce with images, specify availability, and engage in direct communication with buyers. A distinctive feature of this platform is its cart-based mobile vendor system, where registered local vendors facilitate last-mile delivery from farms to consumers, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, eliminating the need for extensive infrastructure. Additionally, an integrated smart calendar provides users with updates on seasonal events, local mandi prices, and crop cycles, improving market preparedness. By merging intuitive technology with grassroots logistics, this solution empowers farmers to expand their market reach, autonomously set prices, and streamline sales. Beyond enhancing accessibility, the platform fosters self-reliance, transparency, and equitable agricultural trade while generating new livelihood opportunities in rural communities.
