Title

EARLY DETECTION OF LANDSLIDES USING LORA

Abstract

Landslides, often triggered by intense rainfall or seismic activity, present serious risks to human lives, infrastructure, and communities, particularly in densely populated mountainous and hilly areas. Timely detection plays a vital role in enabling efficient disaster response and evacuation efforts. However, traditional landslide monitoring systems are frequently unsuitable for remote or difficult-to-access locations due to their high energy demands, limited communication capabilities, and costly deployment. This study introduces a novel early warning system based on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) integrated with LoRa (Long Range) communication technology. LoRa offers a low-power, long-distance communication solution, making it highly suitable for environmental monitoring in isolated regions. The proposed system is designed to provide a cost-effective, energy-efficient, and dependable platform for real-time landslide detection and early warning, thereby contributing to improved safety and disaster preparedness in high-risk zones.
